Gather a team of up to 8 people and come walk for a solidary cause.
Walkathon Portugal returns on the 17th and 18th of June, passing through Porto and Lisbon, and is ready to be another step towards changing the lives of hundreds of people with motor disabilities.
In a renewed partnership, Associação Salvador and YPO launch the solidarity walk that can help finance work at home for people with motor disabilities and proven economic need.

A walk that will contribute to changing the lives of hundreds of people with physical disabilities
The donations raised during the Walkathon Portugal 2023 will be used to carry out adaptation works at the homes of people with motor disabilities. So far, several interventions have already been planned, within the scope of candidacies for the Quality of Life Action project, by Associação Salvador.
Associação Salvador’s Quality of Life Grants supports directly people with proven economic need. Support falls into the categories of Works at Home, Employment and Training, Sports Equipment. In 15 years, we have already supported 599 people with support worth 1.7 million Euros.
How does participation in the Walkathon work?

1 – Choose the location where you want to participate, Porto (June 17th) or Lisbon (June 18th).
2 – Register the team that will do the Walkathon walk.
3 – Check your email to see if you have received your team’s personalized fundraising link.
4 – Make a first contribution via the personalized link to help with the costs of the walk, which includes your t-shirt and identification kit.
5 – Share the personalized link of your team with your network of contacts to start your fundraising and thus be able to contribute to a very important part of the Associação Salvador mission, within the scope of Walkathon Portugal 2023*
6 – Come to the meeting point and, together with the registered teams, take the solidarity walk. We will also be there waiting for you to accompany you!

Frequently Asked Questions
I am a participant. How should I equip myself on the day of the walk?
On the day of the walk, you should bring comfortable clothes and shoes, appropriate for the weather forecast. When you arrive at the participants’ meeting point, the event organisers will give you an event t-shirt that you may wear over your clothes.
Where does my donation go?
All donations will be given to Associação Salvador, to support financially people with motor disabilities and proven economic need, providing greater accessibility, comfort, and autonomy in their homes.
Several interventions are planned with the following average values and each work:

What does Associação Salvador do?
Associação Salvador works in the field on physical disability and was founded by Salvador Mendes de Almeida in 2003, with the objective of promoting the inclusion of people with physical disabilities, improving their quality of life, enhancing their talents and raising awareness of equal opportunities.
Which projects are developed by Associação Salvador?
Associação Salvador promotes the inclusion of people with physical disabilities and the improvement of their quality of life, through 10 distinct projects in the areas of knowledge, integration, and awareness:
– It develops a Manual for people with physical disabilities and Thematic events and Conferences, through which it aggregates and disseminates important information for the daily lives of people with physical disabilities and for the improvement of their quality of life;
– Provides support to people with physical disabilities and financial needs, through the Quality of Life Grant,supporting financially with home improvements, training and employment, and sports equipment;
– Promotes Employment, training candidates and bringing awareness to employers, supporting placement in the job market and post-placement;
– In the Adapted Sportsarea, it offers 9 adapted sports modalities;
– Promotes Social Events, which creates unique sharing of experiences and increases of self-esteem;
– Psychosocial Support, by promoting therapeutic groups and and responding to emergency support requests, which can be directed internally or externally;
– RaisesAwareness in Schools and in the area of Accessibility, contributing to create a society and a new generation that is more attentive and proactive in creating equal opportunities. In addition, works with the Government and Local Authorities, raising awareness and lobbying for compliance with the law and inspection.
– As road accidents are the main cause of acquired physical disability, it develops Road Safety Initiatives, especially among the younger public.
How do I know how much money my team has already raised?
After registration of the participating team, you will receive an alert by email for each donation made through your personalized page. You will also receive a regular update on the total amount raised. This communication will be made to the e-mail contact indicated at the time of registration. Participants may also contact the Associação Salvador to ask any questions related to participation and donations raised.
Who can I enroll in my team?
Each participant defines his team, up to a maximum of 8 elements. You can gather your family, a group of friends or colleagues.
